Large DELIGHT field campaign to the Yellow River Delta in October 2013 was successful

Participants from all German project partner organisations went to the Yellow River Delta for a joint field campaign in October 2013. The DELIGHT field campaign was accompanied by Chinese project partners from the IGSNRR.

Several meetings with important institutions from Dongying were held. The DELIGHT project partners met with delegations from the Institute of the Yellow River Estuary, the Dongying Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau and Dongying Hi-tech Industries Demonstration Area, the Yellow River Estuary Eco-tourism Zone, the Dongying Municipal Statistics Bureau, the Yellow River Delta Sustainable Development Institute of the Shandong Province, the Dongying Municipal Urban and Rural Planning Commission, the Dongying Municipal Land Resources Bureau, the Dongying Municipal Electronic Government Affairs Center, and the Dongying Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau.

The project partners from WP3000 and WP4000 collected in situ data from the Yellow River during their measurement campaign with a survey boat. Colleagues from WP2000 and WP5000 visited natural/agricultural, and urban areas within the Yellow River Delta to obtain reference data for vulnerability analyses, habitat mapping, and urban modelling. For WP7000 focused meetings were held with colleagues from DLR and experts from the main stakeholders in Dongying to identify user requirements and discuss the potential for usage of the Yellow River Delta Information System.
