DLR holds Stakeholder Training in Beijing, June 2014

DLR held a four day user training workshop in Beijing from June 9th to 12th 2014. The participants from the Yellow River Delta Sustainable Development Institute of Shandong Province and the Shandong Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve arrived from Dongying on Sunday, so the training could start on Monday.

 

After a short introduction round we jumped into the different topics which were mixture of theoretical lessons and practical sessions. The training covered a short introduction to the DELIGHT project and the DELIGHT information system and concepts like standards from the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and metadata. Day 2 and day 3 took the opportunity to learn fundamentals about the Linux operating system and how to work with databases. On the last day, day 4, the participants learnt how to work with the Open Source QGIS system to process and visualize raster and vector geodata.
